NEWSFLASH! History repeats itself…

connectingvibes* came into being after an invitation to perform at the National Dance Festival of Grenada in 2000 and the last 12 years have been amazing – tight in terms of funding and hard work but really rewarding!

So here we go again…

connectingvibes* have been invited to perform at the National Dance Festival of Grenada from 29 May – 2 June 2013. This time round, we will be joining forces with Connecting Vibes USA, our sister company in Baltimore, directed by the original founder of connectingvibes* UK, John McQueen.

In 2000, connectingvibes* was just an idea, a project to showcase the talents of young dancers, a unique partnership between IRIE! dance theatre and City and Islington College. Now, 12 years on and all the initial ideas have developed as young dancers; musicians, photographers, designers and technicians have joined forces to complete ten exciting tours.

They have gone on to start their own companies, worked as freelance practitioners and for companies such as Adzido Pan African Dance Ensemble, DV8 Physical Theatre, IRIE! dance theatre, Green Candle, and the Welsh National Opera amongst other others.

connectingvibes* are now on a mission to raise the fares and associated costs for 7 company members to attend the Festival as all in country costs will be covered. The company will perform their latest programme ‘When in Doubt’. This weekend sees the launch of a fund raising campaign on the Please Fund Us crowd funding website:

Please visit the website and support us- regular updates will be provided on this website with contributions from the dancers. You can imagine how desperately they want to go and perform on an international stage!
