Dance Foundation Degree June Graduation Performance

On the 10 and 11 June 2014 second year students from the Foundation Degree in Dance – a partnership between City and Islington College, IRIE! dance theatre and London Metropolitan University presented their Graduation Performance at Camden Road Theatre.

The students formed themselves into a company called “Dance Yard” and dealt with all aspects of the production. Dance Yard presented a diverse mix of choreography created by students and tutors ranging from madcap physical theatre pieces supported by film to Caribbean solos.

In the words of Dance Yard …

“Forget your same ol’ classical dance show… This is where African, Caribbean, Contemporary and Ballet, cross paths with quirky theatrical moments.”

The show was certainly unique culminating in a celebratory fusion of African and Caribbean Dance called “Crosstides” for the finale.
