connectingvibes* is a creative dance company founded in 2000 which aims to give young artists at an early stage of their career performance opportunities.
connectingvibes* also offers a performance and education program for events, venues, colleges and schools.
It is based at City and Islington College and is artistically led by Beverley Glean (Artistic Director of IRIE! dance theatre at Moonshot Centre) and Rosie Lehan (Independent Choreographer and Dance Lecturer at City and Islington College).
The company draws from a number of styles, particularly from the Caribbean and Europe, including traditional African and Caribbean dance forms, Reggae, Calypso and Contemporary Dance.
The exploration of new technology has become an important part of the work with the integration of original film and sound compositions.
The company’s invitation to perform at the Grenada National Dance Festival in June 2000 is a tribute to the national appeal of its work.
Since then the company has engaged in 10 national tours presenting a fusion of African, Caribbean and Contemporary dance. The year 2011 saw the welcome addition of Connecting Vibes USA, which heralds the beginning of an exciting transatlantic relationship.
